PM-JANMAN: PM Modi to Disburse PMAY (G) Benefits to 1 Lakh Beneficiaries on January 15th

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the first instalment of benefits to 1 lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) on January 15, 2024, at 12 noon through a video conferencing event. The Prime Minister will also engage in an interactive session with the beneficiaries of PM-JANMAN during the event.

Empowering the Marginalized: PM-JANMAN’s Inception and Vision

Aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to the Antyodaya vision, which aims to uplift the most vulnerable individuals at the grassroots level, PM-JANMAN was officially launched on November 15, 2023, in commemoration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. The initiative is specifically designed for the socio-economic welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

Budgetary Allocations and Key Interventions

With an estimated budget of approximately Rs 24,000 crore, PM-JANMAN focuses on 11 critical interventions across 9 Ministries. The overarching objective is to enhance the socio-economic conditions of PVTGs by ensuring the saturation of PVTG households and habitations with essential facilities. These include safe housing, access to clean drinking water and sanitation, improved educational opportunities, enhanced healthcare and nutrition, electricity provisions, improved road and telecom connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Socio-Economic Transformation for PVTGs

PM-JANMAN strives to bring about a comprehensive transformation in the lives of PVTGs by addressing their basic needs and fostering sustainable development. By channeling resources into crucial sectors such as housing, education, health, and connectivity, the initiative aims to bridge the socio-economic gaps faced by the PVTGs, ultimately contributing to their overall well-being.

The release of the first instalment of PMAY-G benefits on January 15, 2024, signifies a significant milestone in the implementation of PM-JANMAN. It reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive development and the welfare of marginalized communities, ensuring that the benefits of various flagship schemes reach the farthest corners of the nation.

As the Prime Minister interacts with the beneficiaries during the event, it is anticipated that their stories and experiences will provide valuable insights into the impact of these interventions, guiding future policies and initiatives aimed at uplifting the most vulnerable sections of society.
