External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar, on Saturday, addressed the Business Today Vucanomics 2025 summit, speaking on “Diplomacy in the Age of Disruptions.” He emphasized India’s ability to engage with multiple global stakeholders, even in a highly polarized world.
Jaishankar highlighted India’s balanced diplomatic approach, which allows the country to maintain dialogues with both sides of ongoing global conflicts, such as Israel and Iran or Russia and Ukraine. “A strategic approach helps widen options. In the current polarized era, India is among the few that can simultaneously engage Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Iran, the democratic West and the Global South, and the BRICS and QUAD,” he stated.
Expanding Global Alliances
The EAM pointed out India’s active participation in over 40 international groupings, focusing on diverse areas such as renewable energy, biofuels, disaster resilience, and connectivity. He stressed that India’s diplomacy is designed to create multiple avenues for cooperation and engagement.
Jaishankar also spoke about India’s strategic partnerships in the defense sector. He emphasized that Indian diplomacy ensures a broad selection of international partners for both its armed forces and businesses, following the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ in foreign policy as well.
Diplomacy and Business: A Collaborative Effort
Addressing the challenges faced by Indian businesses in an unpredictable global environment, Jaishankar underscored the role of foreign policy in safeguarding economic interests. And how our foreign policy facilitates our economic interests abroad while achieving growth and development at home.”
He also highlighted the importance of trust and strong political ties in advancing trade and technology partnerships. India’s diverse energy collaborations, connectivity initiatives, and tourism promotion were also among the key topics discussed.
The Role of Indian Embassies
Jaishankar lauded the proactive role of Indian embassies in supporting businesses, enhancing talent mobility, and providing assistance to Indian citizens in distress. He also emphasized the role of concessional financing in enabling Indian enterprises to expand globally.
India’s Vision for the Future
The External Affairs Minister reiterated the need for diplomacy and business to work in tandem towards achieving a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). “As we move forward, our diplomacy and businesses must continue to work together as Team India in promoting India’s interests globally,” he concluded. Through a multi-faceted diplomatic strategy, India continues to strengthen its global influence while ensuring economic growth and development at home.
