Gajanana Sankashti Chaturthi in July 2023 is an important day for Hindus. It is a special day to worship Lord Ganesha with complete devotion and dedication. This particular Sankashti Chaturthi, called Gajanana Sankashti Chaturthi, falls during the Krishna Paksha of the Sawan Month. This year, the fast for Gajanana Sankashti Chaturthi will be observed on July 6, 2023.

Sankashti Chaturthi July 2023: Significance

Chaturthi holds immense significance for Hindus because it is dedicated to worshipping Lord Ganpati. Lord Ganpati, also known as Vinayaka, is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He is highly respected and all religious ceremonies and good deeds are considered incomplete without worshiping him.

It is believed that those who fast on the day of Sankashti Chaturthi every month with full devotion are blessed with good luck, happiness, and prosperity. Lord Ganesha also removes obstacles from their lives.

It is believed that couples who are unable to have children should observe a fast on the day of Sankashti Chaturthi in order to be blessed with the fulfillment of their desired wish.

Sankashti Chaturthi July 2023: Puja Rituals

  1. It is necessary for devotees to wake up early in the morning, perform a sacred bath, and dress in clean attire.
  2. Set up an idol of Lord Ganesha and perform a ceremonial bathing of Lord Ganesha using panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, sugar, honey, and ghee).
  3. Illuminate a lamp, apply a turmeric mark on the forehead, present yellow flowers, and offer Laddoos and Modaks.
  4. Devotees should offer Durva Grass (Green Grass) as it is Lord Ganesha’s beloved herb.
  5. Recite the Bindayak Katha (Story of Lord Ganesha) and perform Aarti (a devotional ritual with a lamp) for Lord Ganesha.
  6. People are encouraged to visit the temple and offer Laddoos and Modaks to Lord Ganesha.
  7. After offering Arghya (water oblation) to the Moon, one should break their fast.
