The Government of India has taken a major step towards modernising quality certification services with the inauguration of the STQC Lab Automation Portal, SATYA. The portal was launched by Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology, marking an important digital governance initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The launch ceremony was attended by S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, along with senior officials from the Ministry, the Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) Directorate, and C-DAC, the technical development partner for the platform. The initiative reflects the government’s continued push to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric service delivery through technology.
Addressing the gathering, Jitin Prasada underlined that governance in today’s digital age goes beyond policy formulation. He emphasized that effective governance must ensure ease of access, transparency, accountability, and trust for citizens and stakeholders. According to the Minister, the SATYA Portal is a concrete step in this direction, as it brings essential certification services onto a single, integrated digital platform.
The STQC Lab Automation Portal is designed to modernize the functioning of the STQC Directorate, which plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, security, and reliability of electronic and IT products and services across the country. By digitizing laboratory and certification processes, the portal aims to make services more predictable, faster, and user-friendly for a wide range of stakeholders, including citizens, industry, startups, MSMEs, and government departments.
With SATYA, users can expect reduced procedural delays, improved transparency, and streamlined workflows. The portal integrates end-to-end digital processes, enabling applicants to track certification progress more easily and engage with STQC services in a more structured and efficient manner. This digital transformation is expected to enhance confidence in India’s certification ecosystem while maintaining robust quality standards.
The initiative holds particular significance for startups and micro, small and medium enterprises. For these businesses, compliance and certification often involve complex procedures and extended timelines. The automation of STQC services through SATYA reduces the procedural burden, helping startups and MSMEs bring compliant, secure, and high-quality products to market more efficiently. This, in turn, supports innovation, competitiveness, and growth in the domestic technology and manufacturing sectors.
The SATYA Portal also aligns closely with the national vision of Digital India, Minimum Government – Maximum Governance, and Ease of Doing Business. By leveraging digital tools to simplify certification processes, the government aims to ensure that quality assurance systems remain strong while becoming more accessible and inclusive.
Speaking on the occasion, S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, described the portal as a major milestone in STQC’s service delivery transformation. He stated that SATYA strengthens transparency and efficiency by introducing end-to-end digital processes, while also reinforcing trust among stakeholders who depend on certification services for quality and security assurance.
Highlighting broader policy priorities, the Minister noted the growing importance of cybersecurity, data protection, and product quality in a rapidly digitising economy. Platforms such as SATYA, he said, contribute to building a trusted digital ecosystem and support India’s ambition to emerge as a global hub for technology development and manufacturing.
Jitin Prasada congratulated the STQC team, MeitY officials, C-DAC, and all associated stakeholders for their dedicated efforts in conceptualising and implementing the portal. He encouraged citizens, industry players, startups, and government organisations to actively use the platform and provide feedback to support its continuous improvement, ensuring that SATYA evolves in line with user needs and national priorities.
