The Kodagu district administration has kicked off a three-day ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to mark India’s 78th Independence Day. The initiative, running from August 13 to 15, will feature a range of events and activities across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja formally inaugurated the campaign at his office in Madikeri on Tuesday. Multiple government departments—including Revenue, Panchayat Raj, School Education and Literacy, Pre-University Education, Social Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare, Urban Development, Municipal Administration, and Kannada and Culture—are collaborating to ensure the programme’s success.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Raja noted that the drive was in line with government directives and would be implemented at district, taluk, and gram panchayat levels. He encouraged participants to share their involvement by uploading selfies to the official campaign portal, hargartiranga.com.
Events are being organised by municipalities, town panchayats, and city councils, while schools, colleges, and hostels will also host related programmes. “It is crucial that every citizen takes part in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign,” Mr. Raja emphasised.
Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya said that cultural and patriotic programmes had already been held in educational institutions and historic locations, urging the public to support the ongoing celebrations. Social Welfare Department Deputy Director and Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Shekhar added that necessary arrangements were in place to carry out activities in gram panchayats and hostels throughout the district.
