What Services Are Available When Banks Are Closed?
Although physical bank branches may be closed, customers can continue to access essential banking services through online platforms, mobile banking apps, and ATMs. These digital services remain operational even on public holidays, barring any technical or scheduled maintenance downtime.
However, services involving physical instruments such as cheques or promissory notes are not processed on bank holidays, as they fall under the purview of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Bank holidays in India vary by state to accommodate local traditions, regional festivals, and official observances. Customers are advised to consult their local bank branches for confirmed schedules and plan ahead to avoid inconvenience during extended closures.
