The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced that nearly 1.4 lakh FASTag users have purchased the newly introduced annual toll pass within its first 24 hours of rollout. A similar number of transactions were recorded at toll plazas across National Highways (NHs) and National Expressways (NEs) on the opening day.
The scheme, launched from Thursday midnight, enables seamless travel for non-commercial vehicle owners by replacing multiple recharges with a one-time payment option. For an annual fee of ₹3,000, users are entitled to a year’s validity or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first. The pass activates within two hours of payment through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.
According to NHAI, around 1,150 toll plazas are now processing these passes. The highways authority reported that at any given time, 20,000–25,000 concurrent users were accessing the Rajmargyatra App. Annual pass holders also receive confirmation via SMS indicating zero deduction of toll fees during crossings.
To ensure smooth operations, NHAI has deployed officials at all toll plazas. Additionally, the dedicated NH helpline number 1033 has been strengthened with over 100 new executives to handle user queries and grievances more effectively.
NHAI emphasized that the initiative is aimed at enhancing convenience and reducing congestion at toll booths, thereby improving the overall highway travel experience for commuters.
