ICC Announces Schedule for 2023 Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup in India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently unveiled the schedule for the highly anticipated 2023 men’s ODI cricket World Cup. Set to begin on 5th October, this 50-over tournament will commence at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India. The opening match will feature a clash between the 2019 World Cup finalists, England and New Zealand, setting the stage for an exhilarating start to the event. Adding to the excitement, Pakistan’s cricket team will be making their first visit to India in seven years, with a match against the host country scheduled in Ahmedabad on October 15.

India, the host nation, is eager to secure another World Cup victory on home soil, having last triumphed in the ODI format in 2011. Since then, Australia and England have claimed the title in their respective countries in 2015 and 2019. This year, India aims to reclaim the glory and etch their name once again in cricket history.

Fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to witness the action firsthand and can soon book their tickets online. The official ICC Cricket World Cup website and app, as well as platforms like Bookmyshow, Paytm, and Paytm Insiders, will provide the means to secure these coveted tickets. However, due to the prevailing circumstances, offline sales may be limited.

The journey towards the finals will feature a series of intense matches, with the two semi-finals taking place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata and the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The grand finale of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will be held at the prestigious Narendra Modi Stadium, known for its colossal seating capacity of 132,000, making it the largest cricket stadium globally.

The Indian team’s schedule for the World Cup has also been outlined, with matches against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, England, and South Africa, interspersed with qualifier teams. Each encounter promises to be a thrilling battle between cricketing powerhouses, captivating fans across the nation and the world.

In terms of qualification, India, along with Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa, has earned direct entry into the tournament based on their performances in the 2020-2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The remaining two teams will emerge from the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers being held in Zimbabwe.

With the stage set and the teams prepared, the ICC World Cup 2023 is poised to captivate audiences with its intense cricketing action. The tournament will unfold across ten different venues, including Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Additionally, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will host warm-up matches, further adding to the cricketing fervor leading up to the main event.
