Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials of the Revenue Department to expedite the resolution of land-related disputes and accelerate the digitisation of land records. He said these steps are crucial for ensuring public trust, attracting investment, and promoting transparent governance.
According to an official release, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for a technology-driven, citizen-centric, and accountable administrative culture within the department. He instructed officials to prioritize the completion of land record digitisation, especially for urban areas, and to ensure the data is promptly uploaded onto the official portal.
Adityanath also called for a user-friendly redesign of the Revenue Council’s online portal and proposed the development of an integrated dashboard — from the lekhpal (village revenue officer) to the commissioner level — for improved monitoring and public access.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of displaying land-use data clearly in khatauni (landholding documents) and called for simplification of the land-use change procedure under Section 80 to boost transparency.
Highlighting the significance of technology in land administration, he urged the full automation of land transfer processes, noting that it would help deliver timely justice to citizens. He also asked for transparency and a sensitive approach in handling complex land consolidation cases to prevent social conflicts.
He mandated that all undisputed inheritance cases be resolved within 15 working days and directed officials to clear all pending issues related to khatauni, Aadhaar integration, farmer registry, land measurements, and khasra (plot) records within the specified timelines. He also approved the deployment of additional human resources wherever required.
Reviewing the department’s performance, the Chief Minister lauded the issuance of over 36 lakh caste, income, and residence certificates in the past year, with 85% delivered online within a week. He encouraged officials to build on this progress and improve service delivery even further.
Adityanath also appreciated the department’s efficient response to natural disasters, noting that more than 3.5 lakh affected families were assisted through Direct Benefit Transfer in 2023-24. He instructed that all pending applications under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Accident Welfare Scheme be resolved within the next 10 working days.
