Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of his two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, emphasized the deep-rooted and evolving relationship between India and the Kingdom. Speaking in his departure statement on Tuesday, Modi noted that the bilateral partnership has significantly expanded in recent years, gaining strategic depth and momentum.
Invited by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Prime Minister is set to visit the historic city of Jeddah for the first time. This marks Modi’s third trip to the country, underscoring the importance New Delhi places on its long-standing ties with Riyadh.
“Our countries enjoy a strong, historic relationship that has grown into a meaningful and beneficial partnership,” Modi said. He highlighted collaboration across several sectors, including defence, energy, trade, investment, and people-to-people relations.
The Prime Minister also pointed to shared goals in fostering peace, prosperity, and stability across the region, reflecting the convergence of interests between the two nations.
A key part of Modi’s visit will be his participation in the second meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council. He said he looks forward to building upon the progress achieved during Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s state visit to India in 2023.
Referring to the Saudi leader warmly as “my brother,” Modi reiterated the close personal rapport between the two leaders, which has further enhanced bilateral cooperation.
He also expressed enthusiasm about engaging with the large and vibrant Indian diaspora in Saudi Arabia, describing the community as a vital bridge between the two nations that plays an essential role in reinforcing cultural and human connections.
