BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, launched a sharp attack on the Congress party during her visit to the Sundernagar assembly segment on Wednesday, calling it a “corrupt and outdated party with colonial roots.” Addressing a small gathering in Kangoo, the actor-turned-politician emphasized the transformation India has seen under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership since 2014.
Ranaut asserted that before the BJP came to power, India was widely known for corruption. “Prime Minister Modi has changed that perception through bold decisions and his impeccable integrity,” she said.
Taking aim at the previous Congress leadership in Mandi, Ranaut accused former MP Pratibha Singh of failing to contribute any funds from the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme. In contrast, she claimed to have allocated ₹5 crore across various areas of her constituency, including Rampur and Bharmour, in just eight months.
Ranaut also defended her support for the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament, stating that she had the interests of the people of Mandi in mind when casting her vote.
Referring to the BJP’s clean sweep of all four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh during the 2024 general elections, Ranaut urged party workers and supporters to replicate the success in the 2027 state assembly elections. “We now need to ensure the BJP flag flies high in all 68 constituencies,” she declared.
The visit was part of Ranaut’s continued outreach efforts across her constituency, aiming to consolidate support ahead of future political battles.
