Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major infrastructure projects worth nearly ₹11,000 crore in Delhi’s Rohini today. The event, scheduled for around 12:30 pm, will also see the Prime Minister address a public gathering, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The projects include the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and a key portion of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), both developed to improve connectivity and ease chronic traffic congestion in the National Capital Region.
Dwarka Expressway Delhi Section
The 10.1 km-long Delhi stretch of the Dwarka Expressway has been built at an estimated cost of ₹5,360 crore. This segment is designed to provide seamless multi-modal connectivity to several hubs, including Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange Lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot.
The project has two parts: a 5.9 km corridor from the Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21 Road Under Bridge (RUB), and a 4.2 km stretch from the Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border. This latter section will link directly to UER-II. Notably, the 19 km Haryana portion of the expressway was inaugurated earlier by the Prime Minister in March 2024.
Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)
The second project being opened today is the Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II, along with newly constructed links connecting Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. Built at a cost of about ₹5,580 crore, the corridor aims to decongest Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads and relieve pressure on bottlenecks such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09.
According to officials, the new links will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, improve industrial connectivity, speed up freight movement, and significantly cut travel time across NCR.
The PMO noted that both projects are part of the government’s broader plan to decongest the capital and strengthen regional road infrastructure.
