In a major push towards digital healthcare reform, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced the upcoming launch of a next-generation Health Management Information System (HMIS) under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). Developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), the upgraded system is set to go live on April 28, 2025.
The newly revamped HMIS is designed to streamline and modernize the delivery of CGHS services. According to the Health Ministry, the initiative will significantly enhance user experience through faster, more transparent, and accessible digital healthcare management.
Key features of the upgraded HMIS include the introduction of PAN-based unique identification for beneficiaries, integrated digital verification processes, and real-time tracking of contributions. In addition, users will benefit from online card modification options and application tracking capabilities.
To further improve service transparency and reduce the need for physical follow-ups, the system will issue automated SMS and email notifications at every step of the application process. These enhancements are expected to ensure more efficient administration and a smoother service experience for beneficiaries.
The Health Ministry emphasized that this transformation marks a critical step forward in leveraging digital tools to deliver timely and effective health services to central government employees and pensioners across the country.
