“Kan-Kan Mein Ram” traverses the diverse landscape of India’s performing arts to depict how the Ramayana continues to live through tradition. From Karnataka’s Yakshgana and Uppinakudru puppetry, Odisha’s Lanka Podi Yatra and Ravan Chhaya, Assam’s Sattriya, Rajasthan’s Mewati Bhapang, to the devotional practices of the Ramnamis in Chhattisgarh, the documentary captures the spiritual and cultural heartbeat of the epic across the nation.
The central theme –“Kan-Kan Mein Ram” or “The Eternal Ram in Every Particle” – serves as a profound reminder of the omnipresence of the divine, transcending religious boundaries and inspiring collective consciousness. The film stands as a testament to INTACH’s unwavering dedication to documenting, understanding, and celebrating the richness of India’s intangible heritage.
With this documentary, INTACH continues its mission to bring India’s diverse cultural narratives to the forefront, fostering appreciation and pride in the country’s living traditions.
