The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several parts of North India, including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Madhya Pradesh, over the next three days. According to the forecast, maximum temperatures across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan are expected to remain steady at least until tomorrow.
In addition to the heatwave, the IMD has also cautioned about hot and humid weather conditions likely to prevail in Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, as well as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
While northern and central parts of the country brace for extreme heat, the northeastern states are likely to witness a different weather pattern. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. Furthermore, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are expected today in regions such as Nagaland, Manipur, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and South Interior Karnataka.
The weather department continues to monitor these developments closely and has advised residents in affected areas to stay updated and take necessary precautions.
