French antenna manufacturer Anywaves has announced plans to bring satellite antenna and radio-frequency payload production in-house, setting the stage for a future U.S. facility. The move is aimed at strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and expanding its presence in the American market.
Expanding Global Reach
Nicolas Capet, founder and president of Anywaves, emphasized the importance of boosting production efficiency to better serve international clients. “We need to be more robust in terms of production capabilities,” Capet told SpaceNews. “And we have to be more present in U.S. markets.”
Since its founding in 2017, Anywaves has experienced steady growth, supplying antennas to major industry players such as Maxar Technologies and Airbus Defence and Space. The company has also reached profitability, an uncommon achievement for space-focused startups, particularly in hardware manufacturing.
New Pilot Plant in France
To support its expansion, Anywaves has established a new 500-square-meter facility designed to streamline manufacturing, integration, and testing processes. French antenna-testing firm Anyfields and Montreal-based Connektica, which specializes in measurement and data management, played key roles in designing the plant.
“Mastering the entire design and production chain of our space antennas and modular payloads in-house aligns both with our industrial ambition and commercial objectives,” Capet said. The facility will handle everything from radio-frequency testing to final assembly, ensuring the reliability of products before they reach customers.
Future U.S. Expansion
The newly opened French pilot plant will serve as a blueprint for a planned U.S. production facility, which is expected to begin operations in 2026. Capet highlighted the necessity of scaling up to meet growing customer demand.
“If we are not able to scale up our production, it will be a problem because they will have to find someone else,” he explained.
Beyond meeting customer needs, the establishment of a second facility is also a strategic move to enhance security and supply chain resilience. “It’s better to have the same line at two different locations,” Capet noted.
While the company has yet to finalize a location for its U.S. manufacturing site, this expansion marks a significant step in Anywaves’ efforts to solidify its position as a leading supplier in the satellite antenna market.
