In a recent interview, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) unwavering commitment to its ideology while addressing various speculations surrounding the party’s future and leadership dynamics.
Dispelling notions of his own candidacy for the prime ministerial position, Gadkari expressed firm confidence in Narendra Modi‘s leadership, asserting that there’s no doubt about Modi’s re-election as Prime Minister in 2024. Emphasizing the public’s faith in the developmental initiatives spearheaded by Modi, Gadkari predicted a decisive victory for the BJP in the upcoming elections.
Addressing concerns over the inclusion of defectors from other parties, Gadkari underscored the party’s commitment to its core principles, stating that while new entrants may strengthen the BJP, the party’s ideology remains steadfast.
Reflecting on the BJP’s journey since its inception, Gadkari outlined the party’s guiding principles of nationalism, good governance, and socio-economic development, rooted in the ideology of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay. He dismissed allegations of undue influence by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in government affairs, asserting that the RSS is a social and cultural organization separate from politics.
Responding to criticism regarding job creation and other policies, Gadkari attributed such remarks to the frustration of the opposition and reiterated the BJP’s focus on inclusive politics beyond caste, religion, or creed. He affirmed the party’s commitment to empowering the socially, economically, and educationally backward sections of society.
Regarding the BJP’s expansion plans in the South, Gadkari acknowledged the challenges but expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, especially in states like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. He dismissed allegations of Hindi imposition, emphasizing the party’s respect for linguistic diversity.
Commenting on ticket distribution and the issue of dynasty politics, Gadkari defended the party’s merit-based approach and clarified the distinction between promoting deserving candidates from political backgrounds and perpetuating dynastic entitlement.
Addressing queries about the retirement age of politicians and the Prime Minister, Gadkari reiterated that such decisions rest with the party leadership.
Gadkari concluded the interview by highlighting the significant infrastructure development initiatives undertaken during his tenure, particularly in his Lok Sabha constituency of Nagpur, amounting to substantial investments in road infrastructure.
Overall, Gadkari’s statements underscore the BJP’s unwavering commitment to its ideological moorings, its confidence in Modi’s leadership, and its vision for inclusive development across the nation.
