Commemorating Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Modi is set to inaugurate a series of developmental initiatives in Haryana. His visit began in Hisar, where at approximately 10:15 AM, he flagged off a commercial flight service connecting Hisar and Ayodhya. He also laid the foundation stone for a new terminal building at Hisar airport and addressed a public gathering.
Later, around 12:30 PM, the Prime Minister will visit Yamuna Nagar to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various infrastructure and development projects. He is also scheduled to address the local citizens on this significant day.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, affectionately known as ‘Babasaheb’, was born on April 14 in an economically disadvantaged Dalit Mahar family in Madhya Pradesh. Overcoming immense social and economic challenges, he rose to become a pioneering leader who championed the cause of the oppressed. Ambedkar played a key role in drafting the Indian Constitution and was Independent India’s first Law and Justice Minister.
He is widely regarded as a symbol of social reform and a champion of equal rights. Since 1927, he led numerous movements to eliminate untouchability and was instrumental in shaping a more inclusive society. For his relentless efforts, he is honored as a ‘Dalit Icon’ and remains a figure of profound influence in India’s socio-political landscape.
Ambedkar Jayanti is marked as a public holiday across India. Citizens pay homage by offering floral tributes, lighting candles, and organizing cultural and educational events to honor his contributions. Schools, banks, and several government institutions remain closed on this day in remembrance of Babasaheb’s enduring impact on the nation.
