The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art skill development centre in Badal village, the native place of late Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) stalwart and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. The upcoming facility will be named the Sardar Parkash Singh Badal Skill India Centre, as announced by SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The announcement was made during a public gathering held to mark the second death anniversary of Parkash Singh Badal. Addressing the event, Sukhbir Singh Badal emphasized his commitment to carrying forward his father’s vision and ideals, aiming to make Punjab a leading state in the country.
“The SAD is firmly dedicated to upholding the principles laid down by Badal Sahib. His service to the people and deep connection with every community earned him the title of ‘CM of the masses’,” Sukhbir said.
He added that the proposed centre will train 2,000 students annually in various skill-based disciplines, enhancing youth employment opportunities in the region. The SAD chief also confirmed that the party would provide the land required for the project.
“This will be the second such centre established by the NSDC in India, the first being in Bhubaneswar. It is a proud moment for us,” he stated.
According to an official party statement, NSDC authorities have already handed over the formal approval letter to Sukhbir Singh Badal, paving the way for the project to begin.
The initiative is expected to significantly benefit the youth of Punjab by equipping them with industry-relevant skills and boosting the state’s overall socio-economic development.
