The yellow metal extended its winning streak this week, while silver soared to a fresh record high on Friday, September 12, amid expectations that the US Federal Reserve could move towards an interest rate cut.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), Gold October 3 contracts closed at ₹1,09,356 per 10 grams, up 0.34% during Friday’s trade. Silver December 5 contracts ended at ₹1,28,840 per kg, reflecting the strong momentum in the precious metals market.
Performance Snapshot
Gold has been one of the best-performing assets of 2025, gaining nearly 42% year-to-date. Over the last two decades, its price has surged more than 1,200% — from ₹7,638 in 2005 to over ₹1,00,000 in 2025 — with positive returns recorded in 16 of the past 20 years.
Silver too has delivered remarkable growth, maintaining levels above ₹1 lakh per kg for an extended period. Since 2005, its value has appreciated by around 668.84%, underscoring its resilience as a long-term investment.

According to the Indian Bullion Association (IBA), 24-carat gold closed at ₹1,09,800 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹1,00,650 per 10 grams. Silver 999 Fine was priced at ₹1,28,710 per kg.
