The Logistics Division of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), organized a highly informative webinar aimed at institutionalizing and regularizing training and capacity building on the PM GatiShakti approach for public servants.
The event brought together 27 Central Training Institutes (CTIs) and 34 State Administrative Training Institutes (ATIs) to explore innovative ways to integrate the PM GatiShakti principles into the training curriculum of these institutes.
The webinar comprised three insightful sessions, each shedding light on the significance and potential of the PM GatiShakti approach. The first session showcased the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, demonstrated by BISAG-N, to unravel the approach’s comprehensive framework.
The second session featured the Ministry of Railways, which demonstrated how it has successfully adopted PM GatiShakti for holistic infrastructure planning. The third session emphasized the need for capacity building among public servants and highlighted ways to integrate PM GatiShakti into the course curriculum of CTIs and ATIs.
More than 250 senior officers from 27 Central Training Institutes (CTIs), and about 34 State Administrative Training Institutes (ATIs) from across the country, along with BISAG-N, CBC, and Network Planning Group Ministries, actively participated in the webinar.
During the event, Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of DPIIT, emphasized the vision of a ‘whole of government’ approach embodied in the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. He stressed the crucial role public servants play in understanding and implementing the PM GatiShakti principles to foster world-class infrastructure development, especially in Aspirational Districts.
Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary (Logistics) DPIIT, commended India’s economic growth over the past decade, in alignment with the vision of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Vikasit Bharat by 2047. She highlighted the role of PM GatiShakti principles in achieving this vision and introduced the concept and use of PM GatiShakti as a GIS-enabled platform for comprehensive planning of multimodal logistics.
The webinar also presented compelling use cases to illustrate the practical benefits of the PM GatiShakti approach. For instance, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas reported significant time and cost savings in detailed route surveys through the NMP’s electronic Detailed Route Survey (eDRS). Similarly, the Ministry of Railways expedited the completion of Final Location Surveys (FLS) through the NMP, resulting in substantial progress in railway projects.
States like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra showcased their plans for social sector projects, illustrating the diverse applications of the PM GatiShakti principles in various sectors.
The webinar also highlighted the role of technology in the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan platform. DG, BISAG-N, Vinay Thakur, provided insights into the platform’s database operations and analytical tools, while ED, Gati Shakti, Ministry of Railways, Kamlesh Gosai, shared success stories of the PM GatiShakti NMP platform in the railway sector.
Chairman of Capacity Building Commission (CBC), Adil Zainulbhai, and Member Administration, CBC, Praveen Pardeshi, expressed their support for the Training in Whole of Government Approach using PM GatiShakti and underscored the importance of integrating PM GatiShakti Modules into the training curriculum of CTIs and ATIs.
The webinar concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing their commitment to incorporating the PM GatiShakti approach into their respective fields, fostering a transformative impact on infrastructure development and overall governance.
