Prerana

The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, has introduced an innovative initiative known as ‘Prerana: An Experiential Learning Program.’ This unique endeavor is designed to provide a meaningful, inspiring experience to selected students in grades IX to XII, aiming to nurture leadership qualities and empower the youth of the nation.

Prerana is firmly rooted in the principles of the Indian education system and the value-based philosophy integral to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The week-long residential program combines experiential and inspirational learning with cutting-edge technology, creating a platform where heritage meets innovation. Each week, a batch of 20 selected students, comprising 10 boys and 10 girls from diverse regions of the country, will embark on this transformative journey.

Set against the backdrop of Vadnagar, a historic city in Gujarat with a Vernacular School established in 1888, Prerana pays homage to the indomitable spirit of the community. This school, resilient in the face of earthquakes and natural calamities, embodies the idea that extraordinary lives often emerge from humble beginnings. Aligned with the timeless wisdom of India’s rich civilization, Prerana reflects the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, who is an alumnus of the institution.

The curriculum, crafted by IIT Gandhi Nagar, revolves around nine value-based themes such as self-respect, courage, dedication, compassion, diversity, truthfulness, innovation, faith, and freedom. These themes aim to inspire the youth and instill a deep respect for the unity in diversity that characterizes Bharat, embodying the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family). The mentors, drawn from prestigious institutions, will guide participants towards becoming torchbearers for a developed Bharat.

The program’s daily schedule includes yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions, followed by experiential learning, thematic sessions, and hands-on activities. Evenings are dedicated to visits to ancient and heritage sites, inspirational film screenings, creative missions, talent shows, and more, ensuring a holistic approach to learning. Participants will engage with indigenous knowledge systems, the latest state-of-the-art technologies, and insights from inspirational personalities.

Students eager to be a part of this ambitious initiative can register through the portal (prerana.education.gov.in). The selection process involves various activities aligned with Prerana’s ethos, ensuring the identification of well-rounded personalities committed to shaping the future of the nation. The chosen 20 participants will undergo a transformative experience during the Prerana program, imbibing inspiration, fostering innovation, and discovering their true selves.

Upon completion of the program, these participants will carry the spirit of Prerana back to their communities, becoming change-makers and igniting positive transformations that inspire others. The ripple effect of Prerana is poised to contribute to the vision of a developed and united Bharat, with the youth emerging as catalysts for positive change.
