The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) and Vietnam National University (VNU) have formalized a new academic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in science and engineering research and education.
The agreement was signed in the presence of IIT Kanpur Director Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Dean of International Relations Prof. Bushra Ateeq, and Head of the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering Prof. Ashish Garg.
A high-level delegation from VNU, led by Dr. Nguyen Thu Huong, Vice Rector, Prof. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Dr. Tran Quoc Quan, Lecturer in Civil Engineering, visited IIT Kanpur to explore areas of mutual interest. The visit follows an earlier engagement in July, when Prof. Ashish Garg traveled to VNU to initiate talks on possible collaborations.
During their time on campus, the delegation toured several of IIT Kanpur’s leading research and innovation facilities, including the Helicopter and VTOL Laboratory, the Startup Innovation and Incubation Centre, and the Smart Grid Control Centre. These visits provided insights into potential avenues for joint projects.
Under the new MoU, the two institutions will pursue structured initiatives such as joint research programs, student and faculty exchange, and collaborative technology development. The partnership is designed to foster innovation and strengthen academic links between India and Vietnam.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives from both sides emphasized that the collaboration will not only enhance scientific research but also open opportunities for cultural and academic exchange between the two countries.
