In a bold move, BRS district president and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Tata Madhusudhan has publicly challenged Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao to a debate on the development of the agriculture sector in Telangana. The proposed debate aims to compare the benefits experienced by farmers under the current BRS regime versus the previous Congress rule. Madhusudhan has suggested that the debate take place either in the minister’s hometown of Gandugulapalli in Khammam or in Hyderabad.
Condemnation of Comments Against Former Minister
Madhusudhan strongly condemned Minister Nageswara Rao’s recent remarks against former minister T Harish Rao, accusing the minister of shamelessly criticizing former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) for allegedly neglecting the farming sector. He reminded the minister of the agricultural conditions before 2014 and highlighted the improvements made under KCR’s leadership.
Questions Raised on Project Development
The MLC questioned why Nageswara Rao, despite serving as a minister twice, failed to initiate a project like the Bhakta Ramadasu project in Palair. He praised the current administration for completing this project, which now provides essential irrigation facilities to the Palair constituency.
Defense of Rythu Bandhu Scheme
Addressing criticisms of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, Madhusudhan noted that Rs 72,000 crore had been credited into farmers’ accounts during Nageswara Rao’s tenure in KCR’s cabinet. He challenged the minister to verify if the farmers in his native village in Kothagudem district benefited from this scheme and suggested a debate on the state of electricity supply to agriculture under both BRS and Congress regimes.
Khammam as an Agricultural Hub
Highlighting the advancements in Khammam, Madhusudhan credited the BRS government for transforming the region into a hub for oil palm production. He pointed out that Nageswara Rao, who once cultivated only paddy, was now growing oil palm, demonstrating the positive impact of BRS policies.
Criticism of Congress Party
Madhusudhan criticized the Congress party for failing to fulfill its promises to farmers. He mentioned the unfulfilled promise of paying Rs 500 for paddy and noted the contradictory statements made by the Chief Minister, Agriculture, and Civil Supplies Ministers on this issue. He urged the public not to trust the Congress party, citing its track record of unmet promises.
Appeal to Graduate Voters
In conclusion, Madhusudhan appealed to graduate voters to cast their first preference vote for the BRS nominee in the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam graduates constituency MLC bye-polls.
