Govt working on modernising education system PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday underlined the critical role of education in shaping the nation’s future, announcing the government’s ongoing efforts to modernise the sector in line with emerging global trends and technologies.

Speaking at the YUGM conclave, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of preparing India’s youth to take on challenges of the 21st century. “We are committed to building an education system that empowers our young minds to become innovators and leaders of tomorrow,” Modi stated.

He stressed the government’s objective to harness artificial intelligence for national progress, under the initiative “Make AI Work for India”. According to Modi, embracing futuristic technologies and integrating them into education is essential for India to become a global leader.

Reflecting on the country’s growing investment in innovation, the Prime Minister shared that India’s gross expenditure on research and development has more than doubled—from ₹60,000 crore in 2013-14 to ₹1.25 lakh crore currently.

“The faster we can move from concept to creation, the stronger our global standing will be,” he said, adding that the synergy between talent, temperament, and technology will be key to India’s transformation.

He also lauded the country’s academic institutions, noting that university campuses are fast becoming vibrant hubs of innovation powered by young energy or “Yuvashakti”.

The conclave saw participation from educators, researchers, and youth innovators, all echoing the need for an education ecosystem aligned with future-ready skills and digital advancements.
