Varanasi’s Global Recognition
Varanasi has been gaining global recognition for hosting significant international events. Earlier, during the G20 chairmanship, the city hosted crucial meetings, including those of G20 development ministers and G20 culture ministers. As a testament to its cultural significance, Varanasi was named the first SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) cultural city during India’s chairmanship.
The influx of tourists reached unprecedented levels, especially after the recent inauguration of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham. The city’s 85 ghats, ponds, and reservoirs were illuminated with more than 21 lakh lamps, attracting tourists from around the world. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, adorned with 11 tons of flowers, added to the spiritual and visual appeal.
Laser Shows & Cultural Displays
To enhance the experience, the Yogi government organized a laser show at Chet Singh Ghat, vividly portraying religious stories on historic buildings along the ghats. Tourists were treated to a mesmerizing crackers show with Lord Shiva’s hymns on the sand across the Ganga. The laser show on the Ganga shore showcased the historical significance of Kashi and provided information about the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor.
Security Measures & Infrastructure Preparedness
Recognizing the global importance of Dev Deepawali, the authorities took extensive security measures. Decorations, including rangoli, facade lights, and jhalaros, adorned the city, while stringent security arrangements ensured the safety of tourists.
Drones were restricted, watchtowers monitored the ghats, and medical teams were on alert with reserved hospital beds to cater to the large influx of visitors. Floating dividers were also installed in the Ganga for added safety.
