The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Carroll and Jo Daviess counties has expired, but residents should remain cautious due to the possibility of water ponding on local roads caused by heavy rainfall.

There is a continued threat of intense rainfall accompanying storms this afternoon, especially if the storms persistently move over the same areas.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is currently in effect for northwest Carroll County and southeastern Jo Daviess County until 2 pm. A severe storm moving at a speed of 10 mph towards southern Jo Daviess County poses a risk of 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail.

Given the slow movement of these storms, the likelihood of substantial downpours, along with the potential for damaging winds and hail, remains high. Such conditions may result in localized flooding and ponding of water.

Additionally, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is active for northwest Stephenson County until 1:45 pm. This storm is moving towards the northeast at 20 mph and has the potential to generate 60 mph wind gusts and nickel-sized hail.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather information to ensure their safety.
