The Blood moon will occur on the night of September 7-8, 2025. The entire eclipse will last approximately 3 hours and 28 minutes, with the total phase lasting around 82 minutes.
The eclipse begins at 9:58 PM, reaches maximum at 11:42 PM, and ends at 1:26 AM on September 8. The peak “Blood Moon” will shine brightest near midnight.
During the eclipse, Earth blocks the Sun’s rays. Red light bends through Earth’s atmosphere, casting a dramatic crimson glow, giving rise to the name “Blood Moon.”
People across India, Asia, Australia, and parts of Europe and Africa can enjoy the full eclipse. However, North America will completely miss this celestial show.
In India, “Sutak Kaal” begins 9 hours earlier. Many avoid cooking or rituals, while others see it as a time for chanting, reflection, and spiritual practices.
Unlike a solar eclipse, it’s totally safe to watch with the naked eye. For a clearer view, head to a dark spot away from city lights. Binoculars will make it even more stunning.
