India’s army is far larger. It fields about 1.25 million active soldiers (with ~0.9 million in reserve) Pakistan’s active army is roughly 0.56 million (with ~0.55 million reserve)
India has more aircraft and airmen. Its air force has roughly 2,200 total aircraft and about 140,000 personnel. Pakistan’s air force has about 1,300 aircraft and ~70,000 personnel.
India’s navy is much larger. It has ~70,000 sailors and around 150 warships/submarines (including 2 aircraft carriers) Pakistan’s navy has only ~30,000 sailors and a few dozen vessels (several frigates/corvettes and about 5 attack submarines)
Both countries have nuclear weapons of similar scale. India is estimated to have about 150–200 warheads Pakistan’s stockpile is around 170 warheads Each maintains land- and air-launched missiles to deliver these weapons, serving as mutual deterrents.
India generally fields more modern equipment. Its forces use advanced fighters (Rafale, Su-30MKI and homegrown Tejas) and indigenously-built missiles (e.g. BrahMos). Pakistan has fewer modern systems, flying JF-17 and older F-16 jets and using Chinese-designed frigates and submarines.
Neither side is part of a formal alliance like NATO. India has strong ties with the US, Quad members, Russia, and Israel. Pakistan relies mainly on China, with additional ties to Turkey and Gulf states.
