The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for multiple states as parts of the country brace for heavy to very heavy rainfall over the weekend. According to the IMD’s latest bulletin issued on July 12, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat are expected to receive intense showers on Saturday, July 13, continuing into early next week.
The IMD stated that “heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and north Gujarat until July 15.” Meanwhile, Uttarakhand is expected to witness heavy downpour on July 13.
Extended Rainfall Forecast:
- Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience persistent rainfall through July 14.
- In the northeast, isolated heavy showers are forecast for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura up to July 18.
- Arunachal Pradesh is also likely to see similar rainfall activity over the next five days.
Southern States Weather Update:
- The IMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall in Kerala & Mahe and Coastal Karnataka from July 13 to 18.
- South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are likely to receive rainfall from July 15 to 18.
- Additionally, hot and humid conditions are expected in isolated parts of Tamil Nadu on July 13 and in Coastal Andhra Pradesh until July 14.
Delhi-NCR Weather Outlook:
In the national capital, residents can expect a partly cloudy sky with light rain and occasional thunderstorms. Though there is no formal rain alert, the IMD anticipates short spells of light precipitation over the coming days. The minimum temperature in Delhi is likely to remain 1–2°C below normal on Saturday.
