The box office saw an interesting three-way clash recently with the release of The Bengal Files, Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, and Hollywood horror sequel The Conjuring: Last Rites. Among the three, it was the horror franchise that managed to draw maximum footfalls, leading the race with a first-week collection of ₹67.87 crore. Baaghi 4, despite the star power of Tiger Shroff, could not cross the ₹50 crore mark in its first seven days.
The Bengal Files, on the other hand, has been the lowest performer of the trio, though it has generated significant discussions online. The film faced a major roadblock as its primary market — Bengal — did not see its release, restricting its overall reach. Additionally, it opened on far fewer screens compared to the other two big releases.
According to trade reports, the film managed a reasonable opening weekend with ₹1.75 crore on Friday, ₹2.25 crore on Saturday, and ₹2.75 crore on Sunday. The momentum dipped over weekdays, with collections ranging between ₹1 crore and ₹1.35 crore daily, taking the film’s first-week total to ₹11.25 crore.
In the second weekend, The Bengal Files showed some minor recovery. After earning ₹60 lakh on its second Friday, it collected ₹1.15 crore on Saturday and ₹1.10 crore on Sunday. However, the weekdays again brought a steep decline, with the film managing only ₹40 lakh on Monday and an estimated ₹50 lakh on Tuesday (Day 12).
With this, the film’s overall box office tally stands at ₹15 crore after 12 days. While the collections remain modest, trade experts believe the sustained chatter around the movie could give it a longer theatrical run in select regions.
