The State Bank of India (SBI) has opened applications for the Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2025–26, aimed at supporting meritorious students from financially weaker families. The scheme, launched as part of SBI’s social responsibility initiatives, extends financial assistance from ₹15,000 to ₹20 lakh per year, depending on the level and type of course pursued.
Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is open to Indian nationals who have secured at least 75% marks or 7.0 CGPA in their previous academic year. Family income thresholds vary: up to ₹3 lakh annually for school students (Classes 9–12) and ₹6 lakh annually for college and postgraduate students.
The program covers:
- School students (Classes 9–12)
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students at the top 300 NIRF-ranked universities/colleges or NAAC A-rated institutions
- Engineering aspirants at IITs and management students at IIMs
- Medical students pursuing recognized courses in India
- Students planning higher education abroad, provided they are admitted to universities ranked in the Top 200 by QS or Times Higher Education (2024–25 rankings)
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship amounts differ across categories:
- School students (Classes 9–12): Up to ₹15,000
- Undergraduate courses: Up to ₹75,000
- Postgraduate courses: Up to ₹2.5 lakh
- IIT students: Up to ₹2 lakh
- IIM students: Up to ₹5 lakh
- Medical students: Up to ₹4.5 lakh
- Study abroad aspirants: Up to ₹20 lakh
Application Process
Applications opened on September 19, 2025, and will close on November 15, 2025. Students can apply online through the official portal: www.sbiashascholarship.co.in. The steps include registration, filling out the application form, uploading documents, and final submission.
Importantly, applicants are not required to hold an SBI account. Scholarship funds will be transferred to any valid bank account provided by the student.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on academic merit and financial background. Applications will first be shortlisted, followed by telephonic interviews with selected candidates. The final stage involves document verification before awards are confirmed.
