The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has issued a short notification for the NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) 2025–26 recruitment drive, announcing 8,875 vacancies across multiple zones of Indian Railways. The recruitment offers a major opportunity for aspirants eyeing government jobs in the railway sector.
Posts and Eligibility
The vacancies are spread across graduate and undergraduate level positions.
- Graduate-level posts (5,817 vacancies): Require a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Positions include Station Master, Goods Guard, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Traffic Assistant, and others.
- Undergraduate posts (3,058 vacancies): Open to candidates who have passed Class 12 (10+2). Roles include Commercial Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Junior Typist, Trains Clerk, etc.
The age limit for undergraduate posts is 18–30 years, while for graduate posts it is 18–33 years. Relaxations apply for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and Ex-Servicemen categories as per government norms.
Selection Process
Candidates will go through multiple stages of recruitment:
- CBT-1 (screening test): 100 questions (40 General Awareness, 30 Mathematics, 30 Reasoning) – 90 minutes.
- CBT-2 (post-specific): 120 questions (50 General Awareness, 35 Mathematics, 35 Reasoning) – 90 minutes.
- A negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer will apply in both CBTs.
- Skill/typing/aptitude tests (where required).
- Document verification and medical exam.

Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be appointed under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay structure, with salaries varying according to the post and level.
