The wait for millions of farmers across India has come to an end as the government releases the 22nd installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to transfer the latest tranche of financial assistance to eligible farmers on March 13, 2026, during a special event held in Guwahati, Assam.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, the government provides direct income support to farmers to help them manage agricultural expenses and improve their financial stability. In the latest installment, a sum of ₹2,000 will be credited directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
According to official information, the central government will disburse around ₹18,640 crore to more than 9.32 crore registered farmers under the 22nd installment. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the funds will be released during a public event in Guwahati, where the Prime Minister will address farmers and highlight the government’s efforts to strengthen the agriculture sector.
The official PM-KISAN portal has also announced that the fund transfer will take place at approximately 5:00 PM on March 13. Farmers and other interested citizens will be able to watch the live event through an online webcast hosted on the official government platform.
The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, provides financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers. This amount is distributed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each throughout the year. The initiative aims to support farmers by helping them meet agricultural input costs and household needs.
In the 22nd installment, a significant number of women farmers will also benefit from the scheme. According to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), more than 2.15 crore women farmers will receive financial assistance as part of this installment. The inclusion of a large number of women beneficiaries reflects the government’s focus on promoting gender inclusion in the agricultural sector.
The previous installment of the PM-KISAN scheme also saw a large-scale transfer of funds. During the earlier round, the government transferred approximately ₹18,000 crore to more than 9 crore farmers across the country. The use of the DBT system ensures that the money is transferred directly to beneficiaries without intermediaries, improving transparency and efficiency.
Farmers who wish to check the status of their payment can do so through the “Know Your Status” (KYS) feature available on the official PM-KISAN website. The portal allows beneficiaries to verify their installment details, eligibility status, Aadhaar linkage, land seeding status, and completion of e-KYC.
To check the status of the 22nd installment, farmers need to visit the official PM-KISAN website at pmkisan.gov.in. On the homepage, they should navigate to the “Farmer’s Corner” section and click on the “Know Your Status” option. After entering the registration number and security code, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Once the OTP is entered, the payment status can be viewed on the screen.
In addition to checking the payment status, farmers can also verify whether their names appear on the beneficiary list. To do this, they need to visit the PM-KISAN portal and go to the “Farmers Corner” section. From there, they can select the “Beneficiary List” option and enter details such as state, district, sub-district, block, and village. After submitting the information, the portal will display the list of eligible beneficiaries for that particular village.
The PM-KISAN scheme remains one of the largest direct income support programmes for farmers in India. With each installment, the government continues its effort to provide timely financial assistance to millions of small and marginal farmers across the country. The release of the 22nd installment further strengthens the initiative and aims to provide continued support to the agricultural community.
