As early trends from the Bihar Assembly election counting indicate a sweeping lead for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Union Minister Giriraj Singh declared that the mandate “unquestionably belongs to the NDA” and predicted that West Bengal would be the alliance’s next major victory.
Speaking to India Today in an exclusive interview, Singh said the people of Bihar had voted against “jungle raj” and in favour of development, stability, and good governance. “Those who know Bihar understand that its people do not want anarchy or corrupt leadership. Bihar’s victory is ours; now we move toward Bengal,” he said.
Singh added that the NDA’s performance reflects a conscious shift by voters toward a governance model rooted in growth and social harmony. “Engineering and medical colleges are being established in every district. The outdated ‘Charvaha Vidyalayas’ model has been replaced. This is real progress,” he asserted.
The Begusarai MP also noted that while younger voters may not have experienced the state’s turbulent past, older generations vividly remember it. “Bihar will not go back into the hands of corrupt leaders,” he said.
Addressing speculation around the chief ministerial post, Singh reaffirmed that Nitish Kumar would continue to lead the government if the NDA secures a majority. “Nitish Kumar has governed effectively. The mandate is clear, and there should be no confusion. Under his leadership, the government is being formed,” he said.
Singh ended by reiterating confidence that the political winds would soon shift in neighbouring West Bengal as well. “The current government there is steeped in anarchy and influenced by external forces. The people of Bengal will eventually see the truth,” he added.
