Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading automobile manufacturer, has unveiled its latest flagship product, the Invicto MPV, at an introductory price of Rs 24.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base Zeta+ variant. This new model will be available in two trims – Zeta+ and Alpha+ – and offers two seating configurations.
- Maruti Invicto Based on the Toyota Innova Hycross
- The First Maruti Suzuki Model with Automatic Transmission Only
The Invicto MPV is built on the platform of the popular Toyota Innova Hycross and will be manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi plant alongside the Hycross, similar to Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara and Hyryder. As the eighth product in Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealership, the Invicto aims to cater to the growing demand for premium MPVs in the Indian market.
Let’s take a closer look at the pricing details of the Maruti Suzuki Invicto:
Maruti Suzuki Invicto Prices:
- Zeta+ 7-seat: Rs 24.79 lakh
- Zeta+ 8-seat: Rs 24.84 lakh
- Alpha+ 7-seat: Rs 28.42 lakh
The exterior design of the Maruti Suzuki Invicto closely resembles that of the Toyota Innova Hycross. However, it features a distinct grille with a slightly different mesh and two thick, horizontal chrome slats that extend into the headlights. The headlights themselves showcase Nexa’s signature three-block daytime running lamps. The MPV also boasts a uniquely designed front bumper and faux skid plates.
The only noticeable difference in the profile between the Invicto and the Hycross lies in the design of the 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Invicto’s tail-lights also incorporate Nexa’s three-block design. Besides these elements and the badges indicating Maruti Suzuki and hybrid technology, the two MPVs share a striking resemblance.
In terms of dimensions, the Invicto matches the Innova Hycross, measuring 4,755mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,795mm in height. It features a wheelbase of 2,850mm.
Moving to the interior, the similarities between the Invicto and the Hycross continue. While the Hycross offers black and brown interiors with silver accents, the Invicto sports an all-black cabin with Champagne Gold accents. The interior layout is identical to its Toyota counterpart and is available in seven- and eight-seat configurations. The Invicto provides a boot space of 239 litres, which can be expanded up to 690 litres by folding down the third row.
The Maruti Suzuki Invicto offers an array of features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additional features comprise a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof with roof ambient lighting, a powered driver’s seat, powered tailgate, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats with cupholders, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and over 50 Suzuki Connect features. Safety-wise, it comes equipped with six airbags, ABS, electronic parking brake, stability control, and hill start assist as standard.
Powering the Invicto is a strong-hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine coupled with an electric motor. Together, they deliver a combined output of 184hp, mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission. This makes the Invicto the first hybrid-only and automatic-only model in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup. Additionally, the strong-hybrid setup allows the Invicto to operate in electric-only mode. The MPV can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 9.5 seconds (claimed) and offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24kpl.
As the Invicto shares its platform with the Toyota Innova Hycross, it features a monocoque chassis based on Toyota’s TNGA-C ‘High’ platform. The engine is mounted transversely, sending power to the front wheels.
In terms of competition, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto directly rivals the Toyota Innova Hycross. While it would have also competed with the Kia Carnival, the latter has been recently discontinued due to non-compliance with the stringent BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. Customers considering the Invicto can also explore similarly priced three-row SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari.
With the launch of the Invicto MPV, Maruti Suzuki aims to tap into the growing demand for premium and feature-rich MPVs in the Indian market. The combination of Toyota’s trusted platform and Maruti Suzuki’s strong-hybrid technology is expected to make the Invicto an appealing choice for customers seeking a spacious, comfortable, and eco-friendly MPV experience.
