Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reflected on some of India’s most defining and proud moments of 2025 during the 129th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat. From national security to historic sporting achievements, the Prime Minister said the year strengthened India’s global standing and collective confidence.
Highlighting Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said the mission became a powerful symbol of India’s resolve and commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty. Referring to Pakistan’s “misadventure”, he noted that the operation sent an unambiguous message to the world that India would never compromise on its security.
“Operation Sindoor emerged as a matter of pride for every Indian. The world clearly witnessed that today’s Bharat stands firm when it comes to national security,” the Prime Minister said. He added that visuals and messages of unity, patriotism, and devotion to the nation poured in from across the globe during the operation, reflecting the emotional connect Indians share with their motherland.
PM Modi also linked this spirit of nationalism with the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram, saying the iconic song continues to inspire generations and strengthen the idea of India’s unity and sacrifice.
Turning to sports, the Prime Minister described 2025 as a landmark year for Indian athletes. He congratulated the men’s cricket team for lifting the ICC Champions Trophy and lauded the women’s cricket team for winning the World Cup for the first time, calling it a historic milestone.
“Our daughters created history on the global stage,” he said, also praising the women’s blind cricket team for winning the Blind T20 World Cup. PM Modi further applauded India’s para-athletes, who clinched multiple medals at world championships, demonstrating that determination and courage can overcome any obstacle.
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said these achievements—whether in defence, culture, or sports—reflect the collective strength, confidence, and aspirations of a new India, inspiring citizens to move forward with unity and pride.
