The prices of gold and silver in India witnessed a marginal rise today, supported by firm global cues, a weaker rupee, and strong festive season demand. As Indians gear up for Dhanteras and Diwali, the demand for precious metals continues to climb, keeping both gold and silver rates elevated across major cities.
Gold Prices Today
On October 26, the price of 24-karat (999) gold in India stood at ₹12,562 per gram, while 22-karat (916) gold, commonly used in jewellery, was priced at ₹11,515 per gram. The uptick in gold prices comes amid higher international spot rates and sustained domestic buying interest.
City-wise Gold Rates (per gram)
- Delhi: 24K gold at ₹12,577 | 22K gold at ₹11,530
- Mumbai: 24K gold at ₹12,562 | 22K gold at ₹11,515
- Kolkata: 24K gold at ₹12,562 | 22K gold at ₹11,515
- Chennai: 24K gold at ₹12,545 | 22K gold at ₹11,500
Experts note that gold prices remain sensitive to global developments such as U.S. inflation data, interest rate movements, and geopolitical tensions. Additionally, the Indian rupee’s performance against the U.S. dollar plays a crucial role in determining domestic gold rates.
Silver Prices Today
Silver prices also edged higher in line with the broader precious metals trend. The price of Silver 999 was recorded at ₹1,55,000 per kilogram, while Silver 925 (sterling silver) traded around ₹1,50,000 per kilogram.
City-wise Silver Rates (per 10 grams)
- Delhi: ₹1,550
- Mumbai: ₹1,550
- Kolkata: ₹1,550
- Chennai: ₹1,700
Silver continues to attract investors, not only as a safe-haven asset but also due to its growing industrial use in electronics and renewable energy sectors.
Market Outlook
Analysts believe that gold and silver prices are likely to remain firm in the coming weeks, supported by festive buying, global inflationary trends, and safe-haven demand. As Dhanteras and Diwali approach, jewellers are anticipating a surge in retail demand, which could add further upward pressure on prices.
Both gold and silver remain integral to Indian households — as symbols of prosperity and security — and their value continues to be shaped by the interplay of global markets, local sentiment, and economic conditions.
