NITI Aayog has announced openings for Consultant positions in two important divisions, Security and External Affairs (including the Vibrant Village Program) and Green Transition, Energy, Climate & Environment.
The recruitment aims to strengthen policy research, inter-ministerial coordination, and project implementation in strategic and sustainability-focused areas.
Consultant (Grade 2): Security and External Affairs Division
- Number of Positions: 2
- Remuneration: Rs 1,45,000 – Rs 2,65,000 per month
- Nature of Consultancy: Full-time
- Duration: 2 years
Key Responsibilities:
The selected consultants will assist the division in conducting policy research, providing analytical support, and coordinating with line ministries. They will also monitor activities across defence, cybersecurity, and resilience domains, and prepare concept notes, issue papers, policy briefs, and presentations for internal and inter-ministerial use.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in a relevant field, or a professional degree (B.Tech, BE, AMIE, CA, ICWA, LLB, MBBS, PhD), along with completion of secondary (10th) education.
- Experience: 8–15 years of professional experience is required.
- Desirable: At least 8 years in Defence Forces, CAPFs, or State Police, and a minimum of 2 years in Public Policy.

Consultant (Grade 1): Green Transition, Energy, Climate & Environment Division
- Number of Positions: 1
- Remuneration: Rs 80,000 – Rs 1,45,000 per month
- Nature of Consultancy: Full-time
- Duration: 2 years
Key Responsibilities:
The consultant will work on policy initiatives related to climate adaptation, climate finance, circular economy, and air pollution management, supporting NITI Aayog’s broader mission of promoting sustainable growth and environmental resilience.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Master’s degree or a professional degree (B.Tech, BE, AMIE, CA, ICWA, LLB, MBBS, PhD), along with completion of secondary (10th) education.
- Desirable: Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Desirable: Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Experience: 3–8 years of professional experience is essential.
