Marking a major milestone in its future product roadmap, Mahindra & Mahindra has globally unveiled its new NU_IQ platform along with four striking concept SUVs as part of its Vision 2027 strategy. The debut, timed with India’s Independence Day celebrations, signals the company’s ambition to cater to both domestic and international markets from 2027 onwards.
NU_IQ Platform: Flexible, Multi-Energy Architecture
The NU_IQ platform has been developed as a highly adaptable base capable of supporting various powertrain types, including internal combustion, hybrid, and electric. Notably, Mahindra has engineered it with a completely flat floor — a first for an ICE-powered SUV — unlocking more cabin space and a larger boot. Depending on the model, customers can expect both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
The interiors of these future SUVs will feature Mahindra’s new NU_UX technology interface, supported by an advanced Integrated Domain Architecture for a more connected and intuitive driving experience.
Four Concepts, One ‘Heartcore’ Design Philosophy
Each of the unveiled concepts showcases Mahindra’s ‘Heartcore’ design language, blending muscular proportions with functional details:
- Vision T: An evolved form of the 2023 Thar.e concept, this rugged SUV features a boxy, military-inspired design, vertical grille, heavy-duty off-road gear, chunky tyres, and a signature yellow tow hook.
- Vision S: Likely an evolution of the Scorpio, this SUV combines a squared profile with modern styling cues such as flush door handles, L-shaped LED lighting, and roof-mounted lamps.
- Vision X: A sub-four-metre SUV with sharp body lines, gloss-black wheel arches, a sloping roofline, and sleek, connected LED tail lamps.
- Vision SXT: Adventure-focused with a pickup-style loading bay, space for dual spare tyres, and a utilitarian yet stylish form factor.
With the NU_IQ platform and these concepts, Mahindra is signaling a future that blends bold design, versatility, and cutting-edge technology — aiming to capture a wider audience in the global SUV market by the end of the decade.
