Prime Minister Modi Releases Commemorative Stamps Honoring Lord Ram's Legacy Worldwide

In a significant tribute to the cultural heritage of India, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recently unveiled six special commemorative postage stamps dedicated to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Alongside, an album featuring similar stamps from various countries worldwide, portraying the essence of Lord Ram, was also released.

Postage stamps, often viewed merely as a means to send letters, were highlighted by the Prime Minister as more than just functional tools. They serve as carriers of history, encapsulating significant events for future generations. Each stamped letter becomes a tangible piece of history, a compact history book, an artifact, and a representation of historical sites.

The Prime Minister emphasized that these commemorative stamps will play a vital role in educating the younger generation about Lord Ram and his life. Infused with artistic expressions of devotion, the stamps feature the popular quatrain, ‘मंगल भवन अमंगल हारी,’ expressing a wish for the nation’s development. Symbolic elements, such as the sun representing ‘Suryavanshi’ Ram, the river ‘Saryu,’ and the temple’s internal architecture, are intricately depicted on the stamps. The sun signifies new light for the country, while the image of Saryu suggests that the nation will thrive with the blessings of Ram.

Commending the saints and the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for guiding the postal department in creating these stamps, the Prime Minister stressed that the teachings related to Lord Ram transcend time, society, and caste, connecting with each individual. The timeless values of love, sacrifice, unity, and courage depicted in the Ramayana resonate with humanity, making it a focal point globally.

The Prime Minister noted that various nations, including America, Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Czech Republic, Fiji, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Thailand, Guyana, and Singapore, have issued postal stamps depicting the life events of Lord Ram. The newly-launched album provides a comprehensive insight into Lord Shri Ram and Mother Janaki’s lives, showcasing the global appreciation of Lord Ram’s character even in contemporary times.

Quoting Maharishi Valmiki’s immortal invocation, the Prime Minister stated that as long as there are mountains and rivers on earth, the story of Ramayana will prevail among the people. This sentiment echoes the timeless personality of Lord Ram, cherished not only in India but also around the world. The release of these commemorative stamps and the accompanying album serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Lord Ram and the universal appeal of his teachings.
