ICAR-RCER, Patna Promotes Wider Use of Hindi in Agricultural Research and Official Work

As part of the Reform Utsav, the ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER), Patna, organized the Closing-cum-Prize Distribution Ceremony of Hindi Fortnight-2026 on September 29, 2026. The programme was presided over by Dr. Anup Das, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna. Virendra Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble Member, Hindi Advisory Committee, Government of India, attended the programme as the Chief Guest.

Delivering a lecture on “Viksit Bharat Mein Rajbhasha Hindi Ka Yogdan,” Virendra Kumar Yadav highlighted the significance of Hindi as the Official Language and its role in nation-building and the development of a developed India. He said that Hindi is an effective medium for disseminating knowledge and information among different sections of society. He emphasized that greater use of Hindi in the fields of agriculture and scientific research can facilitate the dissemination of scientific technologies, innovations, and research findings to farmers and the general public in a simple and accessible manner. He also called upon all officers and employees to use Hindi in their signatures.

In his presidential address, Dr. Anup Das, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna, appreciated the active participation of scientists, officers, and employees in the various activities organized during Hindi Fortnight. He said that such programmes not only enhance interest in Hindi but also contribute to promoting its use in the official and scientific work of the Institute. He informed that both the Patna Headquarters and the Ranchi Centre of the Institute have been notified in the Gazette of India. Therefore, all officers and employees proficient in Hindi are required to carry out their administrative work entirely in Hindi. He emphasized the regular and effective use of Hindi in official notings, correspondence, reports, and other administrative work.

On the occasion, Dr. Aashutosh Upadhyaya, HOD-cum-Co-Chairman, Institute Official Language Implementation Committee, said that scientists of the Institute should prepare more articles, extension folders, and other useful scientific materials related to farmers in Hindi. He emphasized that scientific information should be communicated to farmers in simple and easy-to-understand Hindi so that the benefits of agricultural research and technological knowledge can effectively reach the farming community. He said that this would further strengthen the effective exchange of knowledge between the scientific institution and the farming community.

Earlier, Dr. Shivani, Principal Scientist-cum-Member, Institute Official Language Implementation Committee, presented a brief report on Hindi Fortnight-2026. She informed that various competitions, including essay writing, Unicode typing, grammar, extempore speech, word meanings, quiz, self-composed poetry recitation, and Antakshari, were organized at the Institute from September 15 to 28, 2026. Officers, employees, and students of the IARI Patna Hub participated enthusiastically in these competitions. In addition, a two-day Hindi workshop was organized on September 23 and 24, covering important topics such as “E-Office Mein Hindi Ka Prayog Tatha Krishi Sambandhi Jankari Ke Prachar-Prasar Mein E-Media Ka Yogdan” and “Kisano Ki Aay Evam Jeevikoparjan Mein Vriddhi Hetu Krishi Ke Vibhinna Pahluon Par Charcha.”

The winners of various competitions organized during Hindi Fortnight-2026 were felicitated with cash prizes and certificates of appreciation. Officers who delivered lectures during the Hindi workshops were also presented with certificates of appreciation. During the ceremony, participants and winners were encouraged for their active involvement, and emphasis was laid on further strengthening the effective use of Hindi in official work.

The members of the Institute Official Language Implementation Committee, along with Umesh Kumar Mishra, Senior Technical Assistant (Hindi Translator), made valuable contributions towards the successful organization of the programme.
