Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, highlighting her government’s commitment to developing the capital’s historical landmarks into vibrant tourist destinations.
According to an official statement, CM Gupta discussed several key developmental issues related to the capital during her meeting with the Prime Minister. She expressed her appreciation for PM Modi’s continued support and guidance, stating that his visionary leadership serves as a constant source of inspiration.
“Today, I had the privilege of a warm and heartfelt meeting with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. His vision inspires us to serve Delhi with renewed energy and commitment,” Gupta said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister shared his outlook on Delhi’s growth, which she believes will help accelerate the city’s developmental momentum.
One of the major points of discussion was the plan to promote key historical and cultural sites—such as the Dr Ambedkar National Memorial and the Prime Ministers’ Museum—as major tourist hubs. Gupta stressed that these sites offer opportunities to deepen public understanding of the nation’s heritage while fostering a sense of patriotism. She added that the government will launch awareness drives and social media campaigns to promote these places among both residents and visitors.
To symbolise her government’s focus on instilling patriotism, the Chief Minister presented a National War Memorial souvenir to the Prime Minister and expressed plans to facilitate visits to the site for all school students across Delhi.
The meeting also covered critical areas such as sanitation, environmental sustainability, and waste management. Gupta informed the Prime Minister about ongoing efforts to enhance cleanliness and adopt modern technologies for efficient waste recycling.
In a significant green initiative, she announced that the Delhi government aims to plant seven million saplings this year under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign to increase the capital’s green cover.
Concluding the meeting, CM Gupta conveyed the gratitude of Delhi’s citizens to the Prime Minister for the Centre’s consistent support, noting that this collaboration has helped fast-track several delayed projects and enabled the smooth rollout of new initiatives.
