Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the importance of India’s upcoming lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3. In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister expressed his enthusiasm for the mission and its potential impact on the nation.

Scheduled for launch on July 14, 2023, Chandrayaan-3 is set to mark a significant milestone in India’s space sector. The mission aims to further expand our understanding of the Moon and carry the aspirations of the nation.

After a series of orbit raising maneuvers, Chandrayaan-3 will be inserted into the Lunar Transfer Trajectory. The spacecraft will travel over 300,000 kilometers before reaching the Moon in the following weeks. Onboard scientific instruments will conduct studies of the lunar surface, contributing to our knowledge of Earth’s celestial neighbor.

Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the remarkable achievements of Indian scientists in the space sector. He noted that Chandrayaan-1, India’s first lunar mission, played a pivotal role in confirming the presence of water molecules on the Moon. The mission’s findings were published in over 200 scientific papers worldwide, establishing India’s position as a trailblazer in lunar exploration.

Until the Chandrayaan-1 mission, the Moon was commonly perceived as a barren and inactive celestial body. However, the discovery of water and sub-surface ice has reshaped our understanding, transforming the Moon into a dynamic and potentially habitable world. These groundbreaking findings pave the way for future possibilities.

Chandrayaan-2, another significant mission, made significant strides in lunar exploration. Remote sensing data from the Orbiter associated with Chandrayaan-2 led to the first-ever detection of chromium, manganese, and sodium on the Moon. This breakthrough provides valuable insights into the moon’s magmatic evolution.

Chandrayaan-2’s scientific achievements include the creation of the first global map for lunar sodium, advancements in our understanding of crater size distribution, and the unambiguous detection of lunar surface water ice using the IIRS instrument. The mission has been documented in nearly 50 publications, further contributing to scientific knowledge.

Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to the Chandrayaan-3 mission, encouraging the public to learn more about the mission and India’s remarkable progress in space, science, and innovation. He expressed his confidence that these accomplishments would make every citizen proud.

As India prepares for the launch of Chandrayaan-3, the nation eagerly anticipates the new discoveries and advancements that this mission will bring, solidifying India’s position as a prominent player in space exploration.

Chandrayaan-3 Launched at 2:35 PM (Indian Standard Time)

“Chandrayaan-3 scripts a new chapter in India’s space odyssey. It soars high, elevating the dreams and ambitions of every Indian. This momentous achievement is a testament to our scientists’ relentless dedication. I salute their spirit and ingenuity!”
