UAE: Mango Festival 2024 Kicks Off at Expo Khor Fakkan

The third annual Mango Festival 2024 commenced on Friday evening at Expo Khor Fakkan and will run until June 30. The event, organized by the Municipal Council of Khor Fakkan in collaboration with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Khor Fakkan City Municipality, features over 30 farmers showcasing more than 150 different varieties of mangoes and citrus fruits.

Increased Participation and Agricultural Showcases

This year’s festival has seen a rise in the number of participating agricultural companies and productive families. The event was inaugurated by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, and Dr. Rashid Khamis Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Khor Fakkan Municipal Council. The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures including Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director General of the SCCI, and Khalil Mohammed Al Mansouri, Director of Expo Khor Fakkan.

A Tour of Agricultural Excellence

Following the inauguration, attendees toured the exhibition’s pavilions, captivated by the diverse fruits on display. The showcase reflects the development of agricultural activities and the growing interest in mango and citrus production in Khor Fakkan and the Eastern Region of Sharjah.

The festival is packed with heritage events and economic activities, fostering a competitive atmosphere among local farmers exhibiting their diverse crops. Highlights include several competitions with valuable prizes, such as The Mango Mazayna for the most beautiful mango, a beautifully arranged mango basket contest exclusively for women, and an art competition for children.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais emphasized that the Mango Festival is a multifaceted event celebrating the efforts of farmers and productive families while preserving the UAE’s cultural heritage. It strengthens local identity and connects new generations with agricultural activities. Additionally, the festival plays a crucial role in boosting tourism and economic activities in Khor Fakkan, the Eastern Region, and Sharjah.

Dr. Rashid Khamis Al Naqbi highlighted the festival’s importance in supporting farmers by providing a platform to showcase their unique products. The event helps develop and market local agricultural products, benefiting farmers and enhancing production quality through modern agricultural techniques. The Mango Festival 2024, open daily from 16:30 to 22:00, features various economic and cultural events, including cultural performances by folk groups, competitions, and educational workshops.
