'Yoga Mahotsav' Marks Grand Celebration in Pune Ahead of International Day of Yoga

The fervor for yoga reached new heights as thousands gathered at the Wadia College Sports Ground to mark the 75-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga. The event, aptly named ‘Yoga Mahotsav,’ was jointly organized by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga and the National Institute of Naturopathy, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, drawing participants from diverse backgrounds eager to embrace the practice of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP).

The enthusiastic turnout underscored the growing significance of yoga in fostering personal well-being and societal harmony. Esteemed guests, including Shri Satyajit Paul, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Ayush, and Shri Vishwas Mandalik, President of Yoga Vidya Gurukul, Nashik, graced the occasion, further emphasizing the collective commitment to promote yoga for individual and communal betterment.

Addressing the gathering, Satyajit Paul lauded Pune’s role in hosting the ‘Yoga Mahotsav,’ highlighting yoga as a global movement towards a healthier future. He commended the vast turnout, recognizing it as a testament to the increasing popularity and relevance of yoga.

Vishwas Mandalik, echoing sentiments of spiritual enrichment, described yoga as a precious gift from India’s heritage, emphasizing its role in fostering harmony between mind and body, thus contributing to overall well-being.

Central to the event was the emphasis on the Common Yoga Protocol, with a live demonstration led by experts from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, witnessed by over 5000 yoga enthusiasts. The demonstration, streamed across various social media platforms, showcased the practical application of yoga principles in everyday life.

The event also received support from the Indian Yoga Association’s Maharashtra State Chapter, further amplifying the spirit of unity and collaboration in promoting yoga’s benefits.

As the world prepares to celebrate the International Day of Yoga, events like the ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ serve as powerful reminders of yoga’s transformative potential in shaping a healthier and more harmonious society.
