The Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with various State Governments and Union Territories, is set to inaugurate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav & Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Food Festival, scheduled to take place from August 18th to August 20th, 2023, in the capital city.

The primary objective of this festival is to celebrate India’s diverse culinary heritage. The event will provide a platform to showcase the distinctive cuisines of different states and regions, fostering an appreciation for the unique flavors and offerings that each locale brings to the table. Beyond the realm of food, the festival also aims to cultivate a sense of unity and togetherness among the citizens.

The much-anticipated Food Festival will kick off tomorrow, featuring vibrant participation from 23 States and Union Territories. The festival’s venue will be the State Sadans/Bhawans of the participating regions, located in New Delhi.

Among the States and UTs enthusiastically participating in the festival are Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gujarat, Assam, Mizoram, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Punjab, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Chattisgarh, Nagaland, and more. Notably, a selection of states is also organizing a concurrent handicraft exhibition within the premises of their respective State Bhawans, enriching the cultural experience for attendees.

An integral component of the event is the promotion of the “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative. This program has successfully encouraged citizens to explore the hidden gems of their own country, aligning perfectly with the broader goal of bolstering domestic tourism and instilling a sense of pride in India’s cultural heritage.

The Food Festival transcends its role as a mere culinary celebration; it also stands as a tribute to India’s rich cultural tapestry and heritage. By commemorating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and championing the spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, the festival embodies a unifying force. The collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Tourism, State Governments, and various stakeholders are poised to ensure the resounding success of this enriching and culturally significant experience.

As the festival gears up to open its doors, it promises not only a feast for the taste buds but also a feast for the soul – a journey that encapsulates the essence of India’s unity in diversity and celebrates the freedom and progress that the nation has achieved over the decades.
