New Delhi, September 28, 2026: The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh will organise the All India Women Farmers’ Workers Conference on September 30 in New Delhi, with the objective of recognising women farmers’ contributions to agriculture and highlighting the challenges involved in agricultural work.
The conference will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 9:00 AM at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium (K. D. Jadhav), New Delhi. Thousands of women farmer workers from all states across the country are expected to participate in the conference.
The conference is being organised on the occasion of 2026 being declared by the United Nations as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. According to the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, the conference aims to establish recognition of women engaged in agriculture as farmers in society and highlight the challenges associated with agricultural work.
A major attraction of the conference will be the honouring of women farmers who have done outstanding work in various fields. Selected women farmers from across the country will be honoured in categories including Gau Krishi Vanijyam, organic farming, seed conservation, animal husbandry, employment and food processing.
According to a press release issued by the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, women undertake 60 to 80 per cent of agricultural activities in India, including sowing, planting, harvesting, weed control and animal husbandry. For generations, women have also played an important role in preserving traditional agricultural knowledge, indigenous seeds and biodiversity.
The organisation said women have a leading role in giving practical shape to the concept of Gau Krishi Vanijyam, promoting cow-based organic and natural farming for chemical-free food, and protecting the health of families and society.
Through agriculture, dairy production and rural handicrafts, women are also strengthening the economic condition of their families while actively participating in agricultural management and decision-making, the organisation said.
The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh said it is the largest farmer organisation in the country, with village committees formed in more than 60,000 villages across the country. It said more than 42 lakh women and men farmer workers are working as active members, including around 7 lakh women farmer workers.
The basic motto of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh is “Krishimit Krishasva – Farming is the Way.”
