U.S. Government Launches Children’s Book Series to Promote Gender Empowerment

U.S. Government

U.S. Ambassador to India, Eric M. Garcetti, highlighted the U.S. government’s dedication to advancing girls’ education with the launch of a new children’s book series aimed at fostering gender-inclusive learning. Created as part of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Scaling-up Early Reading Intervention initiative and implemented by Room to Read India, the five-book collection is written in Hindi. The series challenges traditional stereotypes, encourages equality, and emphasizes gender diversity and inclusion.

Ambassador Garcetti stated, “As the U.S. Ambassador to India, I have made girls’ education a priority, understanding its profound impact as one of the most transformative investments any society can make. Education empowers girls with knowledge and unlocks their ability to create positive change within their families, communities, and nations. The books we launch today reflect a shared commitment—a commitment to inclusive education that breaks barriers, nurtures empathy, and inspires young girls to achieve their dreams.”

This initiative underscores the long-standing U.S.-India collaboration in education, which has consistently worked to enhance education systems, empower both students and teachers, and create inclusive learning environments. By broadening access to quality education, this partnership continues to stand as an example of global cooperation, advancing a shared vision of opportunity and progress in today’s interconnected world.
